Dear covenant family,

It gets interesting when I meet new people. As we get to know each other and find out what we do for living, eventually somewhere I drop the line ‘I am a pastor’. The responses are diverse. Some give me a big smile, while others all of a sudden feel visited by some kind of an undercover ‘moral police’ and they immediately loose some of their spontaneity and become less relaxed. I wonder how much of that is a reflection of their image of God. What happened to the life liberating and joy-giving nature of God that should make people want to ask you about Him? Henry Blackaby points out that the way we view God has a profound impact on how we live our lives – both for Christians and non-Christians. What is your image of God – conscious or unconscious? Since that image has such an impact on experiencing God in our every day lives, it is time to take a look at part 2 of experiencing God: Knowing His Nature!

Introduction to CBC – Sunday School Class

Starting Sunday April 15 a 3-week ‘introduction to CBC’ class will be offered for all those interested in joining the church family at Covenant Bible Church. This is a great opportunity to invite folks that may be interested in joining our church. Dates: Sunday April 15, 22 and 29 at 9.30 a.m. (regular Sunday School will continue)

Movie Showing ‘Courageous’ – Saturday, March 24 at 7.15 pm.

You don’t want to miss this movie! Watch the trailer at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=i9VT_NBIVfs

CBC will partner with New Heights Church in watching this movie. You can find New Heights by taking the ‘new’ exit of Hwy 67 (by Hefner’s furniture/Christian Life Church) and following the frontage road on the east side of the Hwy; going north. New Heights will be on your right shortly.

The Synopsis: Honor Begins at Home. Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. Four law enforcement officers are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.
While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.
When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a new found urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to their children?
Riveted moviegoers will once again find themselves laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children. Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That’s courageous.
