June 27, 2012

Dear covenant family, Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever. Psalm 133:1 and 3(NASB) That sounds like an excellent Summer Plan: enjoy being Gods Family together and know that His Blessing will follow! In that light we plan to make Sunday, July 22 a special Sunday. After a 10.30 baptism service at the Farmington Civic Center (Josh Koenig, Brian Vollertsen and we still have room for more), we will head to CBC for a 11.00 a.m. service with testimonies. We will end it all with a potluck lunch complete with fun activities for the entire family at the home of Gary and Wanda Pruett (209 Lake View Drive, Farmington). Baptism is a beautiful expression of laying down our lives with Christ in death, in order to live a new life by faith in Christ as we rise up from the (water) grave. We would not want anyone to miss this opportunity if you haven’t had a chance to ever do so before. After the service from July 22-25 the men will start a ‘Father-son-grandfather-all guy’ fishing and camping trip on the Black River in Missouri. All guys are invited. Contact Steve Vollertsen (330-6009) to sign up now to reserve your camping spot. You can camp for one or several days or come just for the day. More details will follow. This is a great opportunity for (grand) fathers to spend time with their (grand) sons, and for all of the guys to enjoy being together – and of course, the promise of catching HUGE fish…. For the ladies there will be several activities as well this summer: the scrap booking days coordinated by Chrystal Huebschen and the meet ‘n greet coordinated by Darlene Berg. On July 4th Kari and Marco van Raalten will open their home for anyone who wants to have some 4th of July fun. Their swimming pool is open, air conditioning is turned on inside, and the grillis available. Come at 6 pm for supper (call Kari 561-4003 or 366-0787 to find out what you can bring) or come later in the evening just for fellowship. Join the Man Up conference at the Farmington Civic Center for a family tailgate party on Friday, July 6th at 6 pm. Come listen to music and have complimentary food and drinks. Bring your own chair. From 7 to 9 pm there will be music with local church bands, speakers from Christian organizations, skits, and a message. The program continues on Saturday with a women’s workshop at 10 a.m., a men’s workshop at 1 p.m. and a 6 pm service. Brochures with more info are available in the lobby, or visit their facebook page.
