April 3, 2013

Dear Covenant family,

It’s always interesting watching members of the press interview NBA or NFL players. The players are at least a foot taller, athletically built and stronger. I often wonder if it makes the interviewers ‘extra’ nice to them. One wrong question, and they could be in trouble….if you know what I mean. It reminds me of David when he faced Goliath.

‘This day the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel’, were the last words of David before he struck the giant Goliath down. He had an incredible confidence in God. That confidence grew during a life long journey of walking with God, and made David a man of balance – knowing both power & compassion, boldness & humility and judgment & grace. He was called a ‘man after Gods own heart’ as he faced the battles in his life.

What battles are you facing today? God longs to be the same in your life; your deliverer, leading you to victory. David’s secret to success and life of balance can be yours. How? Come and find out this Sunday how you can ‘taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him’ like David did in Psalm 34 – in the midst of his battles. And may the whole world know that there is a God …in your life … as well!

For Reading:

We will continue with ‘the Story’ – chapter 11 – Sunday, April 7. If you have already read Chapter 11, we encourage you to read portions of the Psalms – especially those written by David. Most Bibles will tell you at the top of each Psalm if David was the author. Psalm 27 (for example) will be discussed in the sermon.

Church Potluck this Sunday

Come and bring a dish to share during the church wide potluck this Sunday – immediately following the service. Please know that all are invited, whether you are part of a growth group or not. We will have a joint growth group time after we eat, in which we will further discuss the sermon. Welcome!

Men’s Bible Study

This Saturday we will have Men’s Bible Study at 8 a.m. After a delicious breakfast we will continue hearing testimonies of how God is in the business of touching men’s hearts and lives. Bud Masson to share this month
