Dear Covenant family,
It was good to see everyone again this Sunday after a
wonderful and refreshing vacation. Thank you to all who allowed us to leave by
serving extra while we were gone! Much appreciated!
Summer is upon
us. We opened our pool this week. The sound of fresh water running from our
hose filling up the pool reminded me of the words of Christ who said: ‘if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me
and drink. He who believes in me, as the Scriptures said, “from his innermost being will flow rivers of
living water”’. Fresh, cold water on a hot day. Refreshing. Cleansing. We
will see the power of that cleansing water in baptism this Sunday, as it is a
picture of our old lives being buried with Christ and our new lives living in
Him. We thank Him for refreshing weather this weekend for the men’s retreat (Friday’s
high 82 – overnight low 60!) – perfect weather for outdoor camping. We pray
that for Father’s Day and for all of you this Summer as you take in the sunrays
and enjoy the beauty of God’s Creation: May you know and experience a God who wants to refresh
you constantly as you drink from Him – the well that never runs dry!
This Father’s Day weekend:
Baptism Sunday –
10.45 Service @ CBC with testimonies of Kay Penfield and John & Pat van
Hoogstraat; baptism immediately after service at Terre du Lac at 12.45 at
Carr’s lakefront residence. For those of you who need help finding it, we will
leave the church together. Lunch afterwards at the van Hoogstraat’s – please
bring your favorite drink, a side dish to share and chairs. If you have
alternative Father’s Day plans we understand if you are able to make it to only
a part of this day’s celebration.
Men’s Retreat: Cabin open at 5
p.m on Friday. Supper at 6. Testimonies by John Pierce on Friday
and Richard Edgar on Saturday – followed by discussion. Bring a chair, flashlight and bedding. A
reminder email will go out today as well with directions and more program
information.
