November 13, 2013

Dear Covenant family,

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this”- Rev 4:1

Reading the book of Revelations (Chapter 31 of ‘the Story’) reminds me of being in a theater right before the start of a movie or theater production. Before me is a large curtain waiting to be pulled away to reveal something worth my ticket (or so I hope), but next to me is someone eating popcorn, making noises, maybe looking or acting a certain way, standing up and waving his hands to tell his friends where to find him. In other words: distractions.
But then the curtain goes up and the show begins. All of a sudden all the popcorn, noise and other distractions are forgotten. It is time to watch the show!
This Sunday will be like going to that theater. The only difference is that the show you are about to watch has you starring in it, explaining the ultimate outcome of your life. It will show you who you will be one day, how many years you get to live and the incredible positive impact your life will make. Your heart is filled with hope and new expectation as you leave the theater. You notice it immediately changes the way you look at everything – including the popcorn, distractions and waving hands. They are seen in a new light. Reading Revelations has a similar effect. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss! For this Sunday, please read Chapter 31 in ‘the Story’ – final chapter!

Thanksgiving Service Ministerial Alliance Nov. 27
There will be a Community Wide Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 26th at 7.00 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington. Our regular Wednesday evening services on the 27th are cancelled. We encourage everyone to attend on Tuesday.

Two Mission Opportunities – help out in the Philippines & feed the hungry:
Operation Christmas Child this Sunday:  It’s not too late to pack a box, pray or bring items. We can pack together boxes after church on this Sunday. Boxes are to be sent to the Phillippines per enclosure. If you all do not have enough to pack a box, bring what you have and we'll fill some up together. Or you can send donation online or even now pack a box online! Will still accept shoeboxes through next Weds the 20th! So grab a box, buy a plastic shoebox, fill it up with love and joy!

Help the Hungry Bake Sale November 23rd: We Need baked goods, etc. See the list on the bulletin board. Come and buy from 9am-1pm. There will be baked items, silent auction, live auctions and a clergy baking contest! Fun for all. Let us Help the Hungry this Thanksgiving season. All proceeds to go to local food pantries through the ministerial alliance.
