Dear Covenant family,

 

Seek the peace and the prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper' – Jer. 29:7

 

It was in early 2000 that America became our new home. Little did we know that soon four kids would be added to make the move more complete and settling down more desirable….! As I reflect back this 4th of July, I realize I have joined the ranks of many who came from overseas to make this land their home - including you and your ancestors! The words by Jeremiah apply to all of us: Seek the Peace of the City. This Sunday I would like to do something a bit different with you. I would like to give you my reasons why I love America. These reasons all tie back to Scripture, and I hope that they will challenge us now more than ever before to seek the welfare of this nation into which we live 'in exile'. America needs it. America needs Christ, which still is: 'Christ in you - the Hope of Glory'. Let's love ‘my land and your land’ in God's Way!

 

Prayer and Praise Reports:

Gwen Slater - pray for comfort. A Memorial Service for Dick Slater is to be held on Saturday, July 25th around 4 p.m at Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge. There will be a meal for the family afterwards at CBC. Gwen also asks that any food portions you may want to bring to her would be small. She is not expecting a lot of family until July 25th for the memorial service, and has a lot of food already. CBC Prayer is to be at the home of Gwen Slater this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
