January 29,2013

Dear Covenant family,

‘I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened that you may know the hope to which he has called you’ – Eph 1:17,18

It’s time for a heart-warming subject in this cold weather, so let’s continue our series: ‘Build your House on the Rock’. We have said So Long to: Insecurity (week 1),  Condemnation (wk 2) and Selfishness (last week). This Sunday we will say ‘so long’ to ‘hopelessness’. You can find hopelessness in many shapes and forms in our society today, but it often boils down to a life without the Presence, Hope and Power of Christ. Experiencing Him in your life makes all the difference, for nothing is impossible with God! He wants to make your life Rock Solid! Look forward to see you Sunday.

Dear Covenant family,

‘that we might be for the praise of His Glory’ – Eph 1: 7,8

I don’t know if you had a chance to watch the rant of Seattle Seahawks Football Player Sherman last week. If you haven’t, suffice it to say that most people thought he was a little too full of himself. Not pretty! Not a noise you and I would want to make.

Yet God does want us to make some noise. It’s a different noise and on a tune this world doesn’t know. But I promise you that once you catch the melody, you don’t just want to sing it – you’ll want to shout it from the mountain tops. God wants you to be incredibly secure! Not just in your value (as we saw in #1), your failures (#2) but also in all that you do – in how you sing your life’s song! Unashamed! Pointing Up! Join us this Sunday as we discuss: ‘So Long Selfishness’- Mini Series: ”Build your House on the Rock’ (Ephesians 1:6-10)

This Sunday we will also install John Pierce as elder and Byron & Crystal Huebschen and Linda Davis as Deacons.

Prayer Meeting at the Slater’s next Wednesday instead of at CBC

In order to facilitate traveling situations for all, we are holding the weekly prayer meeting this Wednesday at the home of Dick & Gwen Slater at 1.30 p.m. instead. We are in the process of reviewing the long term time and location of the prayer meeting during this time, and will keep you informed on how things develop.

January 8, 2014

Dear Covenant family,

Hope you enjoyed the winter wonderland outside, but I am ready for it to warm up a bit. Tonight, Wednesday January 8th, services will be cancelled due to the icy roads and snow possibility, but hope to see everyone again on Sunday! Here is a recap of the great Gospel truth we will be looking at in the sermon:

‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in Him before the creation of the world’. -  Eph 1:3,4

I remember my parents telling one of my siblings to stop chewing their finger nails. It was a sign of insecurity, and when you looked at the hands, you could see it was eating them up! Insecurity does that to you – it eats you up – your joy in life, ability to make decisions and courage when you look at the future.

Did you know God wants you to be incredibly secure? This is so important on God’s agenda that the letter to the Ephesians begins with addressing it. This Security is to make a profound impact on our life. Join us this Sunday as we look how the joys and blessings of a truly secure life could be yours – in Jesus Christ!

Mini Series: ”Build your House on the Rock’

This Sunday # 1 – So Long Insecurity (Ephesians 1:1-5)

Year End Giving

Help us end the year strong: Treasurer Donna Masson writes: if anyone still wants to make an end of the year donation, you can still do so this Sunday by dating the check for December and mark it in the memo section as ‘2013’.

Church Planning Events this weekend: One change and one reminder:

In order to give everyone an opportunity to join us for the planning meeting, and not miss anyone due to incomplete communications with the weather cancellations that we have had, we will hold our next vision/planning meeting Friday, February 14th, and will not meet this Friday, January 10th.

Also: 2nd opportunity to vote on Elder and Deacon Nominations – this Sunday

Prayer and Praise Reports:

Thank you church family for loving on people – whether visits in hospital, through delivering meals, making a phone call, and your prayers. You have blessed so many people in His Name this past week. Thank you!

Jackie Nasser’s is expected to be released from the hospital later this week (Thursday or Friday). She thanks the church for all their love and support and appreciates your prayers for continual recovery.
