Dear Covenant family,

Call to Worship: Be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ’ – Ephesians 5:18-20

“I am singing in the rain”, although popular as a movie and song, seems highly unlikely and irrational. Singing in the Rain? We typically run from the rain – or hide from it! Singing in the rain is what worship does. When it ‘rains’ all around us, worship makes us sing, rejoice and look up while people around us would expect us to be depressed, run and hide. Want to see our culture transformed? Try walking around in it with worship on your lips, in your mind and on your heart. How do you do that? Come and find out this Sunday!

Van Raalten family vacation

The van Raalten family plans to take a vacation leaving Thursday, May 29, and returning in time for worship on Wednesday, June 11. We will (still) be in church this coming Sunday. If in need of assistance during their absence, please contact any of our elders.

Gideon’s Bible Distributors – June 8th.

Dear Covenant family,

Call to Worship: ‘But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for god’s holy people.’ – Ephesians 5:3

Wouldn’t you say you have blinders on if you say our culture isn’t changing drastically? In the past years major changes have happened, that only few thought imaginable just a few years ago. What caused the change? In our 2 week series: ‘Transforming Culture’, we will begin by looking at changing culture ‘from the inside out’ and next week we’ll look at doing that ‘from the outside in’. Paul addresses two ‘inside out’ areas in Ephesians 5 that are very relevant for us today. For example: do these questions sound familiar to you? (1) Gaining Wealth: Should it be more evenly distributed? Should it be encouraged to create more wealth? What are it’s dangers/pitfalls for us personally and for our society? (2) Sexuality/immorality: As our celebrity starts and culture continue to push the envelope, what should our response be? How does this affect my life and relationships? In our new series ‘Transforming Culture’, we plan this Sunday to look at how to stay pure in both these areas and affect our culture instead of being affected by it, because ‘once we were darkness, but now we are light in the Lord’

Mark you Calendars: Vision & Planning Day Season 2014/2015

Like in previous years we would like to seek the Lord together at the start of the year as we look toward the future. We plan to do so on Saturday, August 16 at 9 am.  This time will build upon our vision and planning meetings held this past year. We will keep you informed on content & ideas as we get closer to that day.

Vacuum Cleaner Shared Blessings

Shared Blessings Homeless Shelter in Bonne Terre uses a vacuum cleaner about 3 times per day. They have only one now that is working. If you have an extra vacuum cleaner (or a new one) and can donate it to Shared Blessings, please contact the shelter (extra bags are good too for any particular model/design). They really need about 2 or 3 vacuums working at one time – they just don’t last very long when used so frequently.

Prayer and Praise Reports:

Al made it through his hernia surgery successfully and after some painful days is feeling much better and recovering at home.
Rebekah Pierce's sister Rachel delivered two 3 pounds baby boys.

Last week Thursday’s (senior) pastor prayer meeting went really well – open and broken hearts to each other and toward a God in heaven.
Jackie Nasser – hip replacement surgery June 4

Dear Covenant family,

‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God for gave you….and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us’ – Ephesians 4:32 and 5:2

Mothers are absolutely incredible. From the moment any of us are born they love: willing to change the messiest diaper, picking us up when we make our first fall, cheering us on as we graduate from school and encouraging us to find our place in the world. Did you know that Mothers are much like Christ? Jesus described God’s Love as being like a mother. Think about it: Who of us ‘non-moms’ could ever muster up the amount of love and sacrifice that they give? Who of us would be willing to die a torturing death on the cross for someone else? Let’s focus on His Love this Sunday, made visible to us in moms, as their lives reflect the ultimate love that can be found and lived out in Jesus.

Mother’s Day Photo’s – deadline this Friday

It is not too late to turn in your mother’s day photo’s. You have until Friday to do so, and you can email them to byron at bchuebschen@yahoo.com or contact them (747-8366) about dropping of a hard copy of the pictures.

Weekend with International Students

We hope to partner with the International Community Church from Columbia on Sunday, August 31 (Labor Day weekend) for a weekend with international students. Like last year, our international friends plan to arrive on Saturday (8/30) for some sight seeing, and will join various host homes later that day/evening. We plan to share worship and a meal together at church. We are looking for host homes for Saturday Night. A sign up sheet will be available later this Summer.
