July 24, 2015

Dear Covenant family,

‘How good an pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity' - Ps 133:1

This Sunday pastor Mike Priest, with Christ Community Church in St. Louis will be speaking. We enjoyed participating in Family Camp with them in the past years, and next to bringing a message pastor Mike will also give us an update on what to expect at this year's family Camp. It is a pulpit exchange: Marco will be speaking at their church. The van Raalten’s will continue their trip up north to spend a few days with Kari’s parents – returning later in the week; back on Sunday.

Memorial Service Dick Slater

A big thank you to everyone for your help! The church looks clean, inside and out. Pray for Gods Will to be done tomorrow - as Dick would want to see the Gospel of our Lord lived out among us in word and deed! Pray for salvation to come to the family, friends and acquaintances of the Slater's.

As a reminder for tomorrow:

10.30 Visitation at Boyer's Funeral Home, Desloge

11.30 Service at Boyer's

How low can we go? – Debt Reduction Campaign

A major incentive for future growth would be for us to lower our debt, allowing resources to be used for other means, instead of paying off our debt. For this purpose your elders and deacons initiated a 'how low can we go' fundraiser that will continue until year's end. Our goal: Reduce our debt to $100,000 (from the $140,000+ it is now). More information to follow in the months ahead and at our quarterly meeting on August 2nd. Gifts to be put in the deacon box with memo 'debt reduction'

Dear Covenant family,

‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’ – Matthew 5:4

Have you ever turned down an offer because you knew there was something better just down the road? Weren’t you glad you said ‘no’ once you actually got the better deal in hand? Followers of Christ are people who live ‘with a better deal in mind’. We will continue to look at the beatitudes this Sunday, unlocking the ‘upside down Kingdom’ secret of how mourning can actually make you ‘happy’ – or blessed. Come and find out how His Better Deal can be yours!

Dear Covenant family,

Praise the Lord all you nations, extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever' – Jer. 29:7

I look forward to our time this Saturday, as we seek to ‘bless the city and nation into which God has called us’ – Ferguson/Florissant; with Salem Evangelical Free Church

Here are the details:

-         Departure time from CBC: 8.15

-         What to wear: Comfortable clothes to walk around outside in.

-         What to bring: A few people may be doing outside work and would benefit from bringing some long pants to work in. Otherwise relaxed summer wear would work. There is some poison ivy and there will be one person doing some weed-eating.

-         Time commitment -a full day is preferred. It is possible for a few people to jump in midday. If you can’t make it for the entire day please contact Marco or Megan at 573-543-5290.

-         Come ready to serve and be flexible, but also come ready to worship and grow.
